Los Angeles-based Innovo Group Inc., the maker of Joe’s Jeans, has promoted Shane Whalen to the new post of chief operating officer. He had served as vice president of corporate development since joining the firm last fall.

Innovo chief executive officer Jay Furrow said Whalen “has helped to formulate and implement sales, operational and business processes — improvements that have increased the strength of the company’s operational infrastructure.”

Prior to joining Innovo, Whalen worked at Accenture Consulting.

Earlier this month, Innovo agreed to acquire Azteca Production International’s Blue Concepts unit, a private label jeans supplier. Hubert Guez, a member of the family that owns Azteca, is the largest individual shareholder in Innovo, with a 41.9 percent stake in the firm, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
