Designers Nominated for BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund

The winning label will receive mentoring and a grant for business development.

LONDON — The British Fashion Council has named the six labels that are on the shortlist for its BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize in 2014.

They are Emilia Wickstead, House of Holland, Mary Katrantzou, Osman, Peter Pilotto and Zoe Jordan, with the winner of the award set to be announced Jan. 28, 2014.

The BFC said that each of the labels nominated is “in a strong position to develop into a global designer brand and represent the best of London’s thriving fashion talent.”

The fund provides the winning designer with a 12-month mentoring program, along with a grant of 200,000 pounds, or $327,288 at current exchange, to provide the infrastructure necessary to take the label’s business to the next stage.

Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC commented: “The strength of this year’s shortlist represents a generation of talent who are ready for the financial and mentoring support the fund offers.”

The fund is in its fifth year, and Erdem, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and Nicholas Kirkwood are all past recipients of the prize.
