Forte, who will be based at Dolce & Gabbana’s offices here, will begin Monday.
Her appointment is part of Dolce & Gabbana’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its management team for growth. It couldn’t be learned at press time whom Forte reports to, but sources believe it would be Stefano Gabbana, chairman, and Domenico Dolce, managing director, of Dolce & Gabbana.
In a statement, Forte said, “I am very excited to join Dolce & Gabbana and to contribute to the expansion of this wonderful brand and work with such a talented team.”
Forte was unavailable for further comment.
Most recently, Forte was chief executive officer of ibeauty.com. Before that, she spent five years at Calvin Klein Inc., where as president and chief operating officer, she aggressively expanded Klein’s business into Europe via a series of joint ventures and partnerships. Earlier, she was with Giorgio Armani for 15 years, rising to executive vice president and heading the U.S. operation. A hard-driving executive, Forte was instrumental in all the designer’s retail decisions, as well as image control, and served as a buffer between Armani and the retailers and press.
