Executives at Polo Ralph Lauren confirmed that the company is preparing to open a Double RL store at 7960 Third Street in West Hollywood, Calif., the division’s third location after stores in NoLIta in New York and Place de Victoire in Paris.
The 3,000-square-foot store, at the corner of Third Street and Edinburgh Avenue, is scheduled to open Saturday. The storefront is currently boarded up with no exterior signs or any indication of what is coming into the space.
Initially, the store will offer men’s Double RL and a selection of Double RL jeans for women, plus men’s and women’s vintage clothing. Next year, women’s Double RL will be added to the mix when the line bows in the spring.
Double RL is a vintage-inspired division of Polo Ralph Lauren that, among other things, specializes in high-end jeans with denim woven on special looms in Japan.
The quaint neighborhood stretch of Third Street is growing into a hip shopping destination. Lulu Guinness opened an accessories boutique there about two weeks ago. Shoe and handbag maker Sigerson Morrison will open its boutique in January. Aero & Co., a high-end specialty store featuring locally based designers, relocated to Third Street earlier this year from a spot in the trendy Los Feliz area.
