NEW YORK — Elinor Donohoe Straub, a former fashion consultant in the retail industry and once the operator of her own specialty shop, died Jan. 29.

According to a former colleague, Bunny Merrick, owner of Bunny Merrick Associates, Inc., a fashion buying office here, Straub died of heart failure in the Hartland Center, Miami Lakes, Fla. She was 86.

From 1975 to 1987, Straub was a fashion consultant to Goldring Inc., a New York-based retailer no longer in business. For the next three years, she was a fashion coordinator for various specialty stores throughout the South. She retired in 1990.

Earlier in her career, Straub operated a specialty shop in San Francisco.

Surviving is a sister, Pat Griffin.
