Escada Sport opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin with a sunny cocktail of a collection worked in strawberry margarita reds, Tropicana oranges, icy whites and a dash of dark indigo blue. The beachy gear moved down the runway to a playful Copacabana beat, though head designer Madelaine Schäfer’s starting point was actually Guatemala. “They have such a fearless and joyful way of mixing patterns and colors,” she said. “But I really didn’t want to set this to a specific place. The collection is just about the happiness of summer and color.”

Plus easy styling. Poncho and tunic tops came in embroidered silk, breezy prints, jacquard knits, knitted leather and lace-accented linen. They were paired with long skirts, little shorts or sometimes just a striped bikini bottom, a frequently recurring item that underscored the collection’s street-to-pool vibe. Simple wide-legged pants flowed, especially when worked in Tencel, while the house’s signature tie-dyed print added a psychedelic touch.
