Eskenasi joined Saks as senior vice president of private label and brand development in 1997 and was promoted to executive vice president two years later. Earlier in her career, she was with the now-defunct Frederick Atkins Inc. buying office, where her last post was senior vice president and general merchandise manager of accessories, intimate apparel, children’s, cosmetics and shoes.
“Peggy is largely responsible for the development and tremendous growth and success of SDSG’s private brand program, which supports our strategic direction of providing distinctive and differentiated product offerings to our customers,” said George Jones, president and chief executive of SDSG, in a statement.
Under Eskenasi, SDSG has introduced the Relativity, Pursuits and Studio Works brands in women’s apparel; Intimate Essentials in intimate apparel; Consensus, Cezani and RBM in men’s wear, and URIT in children’s wear. More recently, it has penned exclusive arrangements to produce and market apparel under the Laura Ashley, Jane Seymour and Ruff Hewn names.
Eskenasi will continue to report to Jones at SDSG’s offices in Birmingham, Ala.
