Celebrating a decade on the Berlin fashion scene, Esther Perbandt tapped an experimental choir and a contemporary dancer to accompany her show at the Volksbuhne theater. Men and women from the theater’s company, artists, and select models parded in a black, white and grey collection that reworked suiting classics, including business jumpsuits and blazers with zip-off sleeves.
An ombre tweed pattern that morphed into pixels was highlighted in a long dress and a cinched coat with an unfinished hem. Perbandt’s version of a wedding dress finished the show — long and simple, and bisected with chains. Fans of her often androgynous styles include Veruschka, Bill Murray, and German theatre actress Bibiana Beglau.
