No place is safe for Pierre Berge these days. All of Paris has been talking about how, at what should have been a quiet, cozy New Year's dinner at President Francois Mitterrand's, Berge got into the soup, literally. A waiter, or so the story goes, accidentally spilled a tureen of hot soup on Pierre's head and scalded him, in an incident that's already being referred to as La Soupe du President. "How did you know that?" demanded Berge, when asked about the incident. "Yes, it's true. I'm OK, though it was a difficult thing. But it wasn't soup -- it was sauce, which is much worse."Get out your party clothes. There are a couple of hot tickets for the week of Feb. 7. Wong to ring in the Chinese New Year with a benefit for the Community Research Initiative on AIDS. Actress Joan Chen and "Wedding Banquet" director Ang Lee will be honored and Fendi will introduce its newest scent, Asja.
