Maybe Julie Baumgold gave her seat to someone else, or maybe she just wanted to be closer to her husband, Esquire editor Ed Kosner. Whatever the case, Baumgold was perched on Kosner's lap throughout Gianfranco Ferre's men's wear show in Milan Tuesday.

The late Swifty Lazar, king of the Hollywood deal, was remembered by New York friends the other night, when Lauren Bacall had 10 people or so to her apartment for an intimate memorial service. Arthur and Alexandra Schlesinger, Joni Evans, Kenneth Jay Lane, Phyllis Newman and Adolph Green, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Betty Comden and Karen Lerner all came to trade barbs and stories about the diminutive titan's bravado. Bacall herself debunked the popularly held idea that it was her former husband Humphrey Bogart who had given Irving Lazar the nickname that so irked him. She didn't say how Lazar did get it, but insisted it wasn't Bogey. Bacall recorded the proceedings for posterity.
