NEW YORK — The members of Mötley Crüe have always been known for their ravenous sexual appetites and one member, Nikki Sixx, plans to translate that attitude into fashion.

The notorious rocker will launch a line of men’s and women’s shirts, as well as women’s underwear, to hit select specialty stores in April. The line, N.Sixx by Dragonfly, was inspired by the bass player’s wild range of tattoos that adorn his body. Wholesaling for $6.50 to $14.50, the line is being manufactured in partnership with Dragonfly, a licensor and manufacturer of music-inspired shirts.

“I don’t want porn stars and bimbos wearing my stuff,” Sixx stated. “I want it to have a wider appeal. It’s for the high school and young college girls.”

The line, Sixx said, is sexy without being raunchy. For example, there are seven tank top/underwear sets, each one featuring a different piece of fruit with a bite taken out of them.

“The fruit makes it innocent and the bite taken out of it is sexy,” he explained.

Besides this recent debut as a fashion designer, Sixx is working on an array of projects starting with the rerelease of Mötley Crüe’s back catalog on Universal Records; the release of the next single he wrote for heavy metal band Saliva; the formation of a new band, Brides of Destruction, and writing a book titled “The Heroin Diaries,” which will be turned into a VH1 special.

But with all these projects in the works, Sixx said that fashion could really be his thing.

“I look forward to getting further into this business on so many different levels,” said the father of five and husband of former “Baywatch” babe and Playboy bunny Donna D’Errico. “It’s so much faster than rock ’n’ roll. You design it, get it out there and get an immediate reaction.”
