BENDEL’S GIRLS: Actresses Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning were clearly channeling Kay Thompson’s “Think Pink” adage at Henri Bendel on Thursday. The uptown girls both turned up in candied pink — although Murphy’s was Moschino and Fanning’s was Oilily — and posed for paparazzi pics while unveiling the Bendel’s “Uptown Girls” window marking Murphy’s and Fanning’s new film. “We didn’t plan it, but this is the fourth time we’ve shown up for something wearing the same color,” the in-sync stars declared in unison.

The chummy actresses chatted about beauty products and fashion (Murphy plays a Bendel’s shopgirl in the movie), and the nine-year-old Fanning even slipped off her fuchsia clogs to show off her pink and white polkadotted pedicure. Goes to show that fashion savviness starts young.

COUTURE COCA-COLA: Matthew Williamson has just created a limited-edition Coca-Cola bottle, in what is a first for the designer and for the bubbly brand. Williamson, who was approached by Coca-Cola, has wrapped the bottle in plastic that’s been printed with a multicolored parrot perched on a mauve palm tree. Williamson used his signature palette of hot pinks and yellows for the background. The designer’s signature is emblazoned across the center of the bottle under the Coca-Cola logo. The bottles will be available at Williamson’s runway show in New York in early September. In the U.K., Selfridges has the exclusive to sell the bottles in its food halls in the London, Manchester and Birmingham stores.

BRIDE NO. 1: The first of the “Sex and the City” girls is getting married off on Sunday night’s episode, and naturally, she’s wearing designer. Charlotte, as played by Kristin Davis, will wear head-to-toe Badgley Mischka: a silk organza off-the-shoulder beaded gown with ruffle details, worth $8,000, a custom-made sheer organza circle veil with crystal and pearl details on the back trim and satin, open-toe platform shoes. And yes, even though it’s her second wedding, Charlotte’s wearing white.

Meanwhile, Davis will have some competition from Sarah Jessica Parker, who will be wearing an Alexander McQueen dress during the episode. It’s a purple version of the silver-and-white stunner he showed during the fall collections, and was made especially for Parker.

TIME FOR A TRADE IN?: It was once General Motors Fashion Week and now it’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but next year, New York’s showcase for runway shows might have another name.

Reports surfaced again this week that Mercedes might not renew its role as title sponsor of 7th on Sixth’s production at Bryant Park after the deal expires at the end of this year. A spokesman for Mercedes said it was too early in the process to comment.

“We are completely focused on celebrating another exciting and successful Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week,” added a spokeswoman for the event, scheduled Sept. 12-19. “Their sponsorship continues through the end of 2003 and we are currently in discussions about the future.”
