Comeback Kid...Short Rhythm...Meet and Greet...Karl's Metal Madness

COMEBACK KID: Eric Bergere, who shuttered his ready-to-wear business last year, is hopping back into the fashion saddle. Aigle, an outdoorsy French brand popular with hunters, sailors and weekend warriors with milder pursuits, tapped Bergere to design a capsule collection of more urban styles for fall to help celebrate its 150th birthday. And Bergere’s signature brand will also be reborn in September in Japan. The designer just signed an agreement to design women’s and men’s shirts exclusively for the hip chain United Arrows.

SHORT RHYTHM: Bobby Short was spotted lunching with Casey Ribicoff and others on Friday at La Grenouille, but was somewhat singing the blues. Short walked in on a chic cane because he’s suffering from neuropathy in his foot. One drawback has been that Short hasn’t been able to walk his new dog, a black poodle. “It’s a real bore,” he moaned of the affliction. “Especially for someone with my natural rhythm.”

MEET AND GREET: Lisa Kulson’s new spring collection for Kulson has been flying off the shelves so quickly at Bergdorf Goodman that the former designer for Theory flew in from Florence over the weekend to make her first retail appearance at the department store’s “Saturdays on 5ive” series. She joins the ranks of designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Rebecca Taylor, who both made appearances on the fifth floor recently.

KARL’S METAL MADNESS: When Chrome Hearts’ Richard Stark got word that Karl Lagerfeld had picked clean Colette’s stock of the ornately, goth-flavored silver line — including a hair ring and tie ring — the news made him pause, kind of. “I think it’s great when anybody buys a piece of our stuff no matter who they are,” he said Friday from his Hollywood studio, where even the door screw heads are Chrome Hearts’ signature cross and silver motif. “But it’s extra special when somebody like him buys. I mean, he’s a great artist himself.” But don’t expect Stark, who’s picked up more than a few Lagerfeld designs for his fashion-loving wife, to start broadcasting it. “It’s cool, but I’m not going to tell the world.”
