DRAMA QUEEN: Uber-vixen Joan Collins has enlisted a familiar face to design the gown she will wear Tuesday, when her son, artist Sacha Newley, weds jewelry designer Angela Tassoni. Nolan Miller, the design force behind the big earrings and even bigger shoulder pads worn by the power-hungry gals of "Dynasty," was chosen to craft a gown for Collins, who recently joined the cast of daytime soap opera "Guiding Light."
"It’s red silk with a slightly off-the-shoulder neckline that sort of stands up, long tight sleeves with buttons — but no shoulder pads whatsoever," Collins said. "It has a very small waist and a kind of sleek skirt that has a slight trumpet train." On the accessories front, the 69-year-old actress, who last February married husband number five, Percy Gibson, will don one of Tassoni’s vintage diamond bows.
The ceremony will take place in Manhattan at a church, followed by a reception elsewhere (Collins declined to identify the venues). And how is Collins, who recently moved from Los Angeles to New York, enjoying being a newlywed? "I love it," she said. "I couldn’t be happier. I’ve got a wonderful guy. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me — since my children were born, of course."
RIGHT ON TARGET: Two more designer labels are headed for Target Stores. Maternity designer Liz Lange said she is creating a collection of interchangeable maternity clothes for exclusive distribution in Target stores nationwide late this year, using the label Liz Lange for Target. "I believe that maternity clothes should be chic and well made," Lange said. "Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you’re any less fashionable. My collection at Target will offer the season’s best key pieces at prices that are very accessible." This confirms a Fashion Scoop from July 5.
Also in store for the store is a new line of girls’ home furnishing products from indie designer Mark Montano. His project, aimed at Target and its more upscale Mervyn’s division, resulted from a book the designer will launch on Sept. 20 called "Super Suite," a Rizzoli-published collection of his essays for Cosmo Girl. In the column, which has appeared in the magazine since December 1999, Montano typically helps a teen redecorate her bedroom in a cheap way with crafty use of fabrics and inexpensive furnishings. Now Montano is coming out with a line of home products that will make executing his theories even easier for Cosmo readers and Target shoppers.
SHE’S WORTH IT, TOO: Word in London has it that Charlize Theron is next in the line of spokesmodels for L’Oréal. The South African actress is thought to be earning a six-figure sum to model for the cosmetics brand, joining a sorority that includes Claudia Schiffer and Catherine Deneuve.
PHILIP TREACY WALKS: British designer Philip Treacy has pulled out of New York fashion week in a huff because of a last-minute scheduling conflict. A spokeswoman for the designer said the company just discovered that Jeremy Scott will be showing in a Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week venue on Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. — the same time slot that Treacy had reserved for an off-site show through Ruth Finley’s Fashion Calender last month. Treacy called the New York show organizers "unreasonable" and "unprofessional," adding that he’s shown in New York for three years and had already paid for parts of his show.
"We had already booked 120 hotel nights, we were flying over 22 people, and we had already booked Naomi Campbell to wear a Campbell’s Soup can hat for the show," said a spokeswoman for the designer, noting the spring collection was to have included a series of Warhol-inspired looks. "But we’re not going up against another designer. It would be destructive to both companies and not fair to guests to make them choose."
Fern Mallis, executive director of 7th on Sixth, said the company had no intention of creating a conflict, but that miscommunications had occurred between show organizers and designers leading to several overlaps this season. Seventh on Sixth and the Fashion Calendar are not related.
Treacy has also participated in the Fashion Coterie trade show for three seasons and will continue to show there. He has not decided whether to show the spring collection elsewhere.
STRANGE BEDFELLOWS: Despite his departure from Imitation of Christ, Matt Damhave just can’t shake the fashion bug. The downtown fashion monger is teaming up with Korean designers Y&Kei to style their Sept. 18 runway show —"Water the Earth" — at the Bryant Park Grill. Yes, the Bryant Park Grill. While he didn’t design the collection, Damhave offers a fresh pair of eyes for the presentation, according to a Y&Kei spokeswoman. The collaboration marks Damhave’s first independent fashion job since he split with IOC business partner Tara Subkoff in February.A JOKE, BUT ON WHOM?: A mysterious fashion show invitation arrived on editors’ desks Thursday for a collection called "Imitation of Heatherette," scheduled on Sept. 17 at 9 p.m., the same time as the real Heatherette show of designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains and allegedly sponsored by "Elmer’s Glue and Be Dazzler."
While the Imitation invite offered few clues as to its origins, one can’t help but imagine it’s an extension — or a lame ape? —?of the old Imitation of Imitation of Christ lark, a collective of four anonymous designers siphoning off some of the hype from Imitation of Christ that petered out early 2001. The real Heatherette duo were nonplussed by the news, expressing disappointment only that the faux-show was scheduled at the same time as theirs, considering they’d otherwise be happy to attend the IOH affair as celebrity guests.
That might be difficult for another reason: The address listed for the IOH show, 328 West 38th Street, doesn’t exist.
PALTROW’S TIME : Gwyneth Paltrow is trying her hand at the art of time.The actress has guest designed a Movado SE Denim watch that will be auctioned off at the New Yorkers for Children Fall Gala Dinner next Tuesday.
Movado for the first time is the corporate sponsor for the gala, which last year became a symbol of perseverance and the spirit of New York, since it was held shortly after Sept. 11 and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was in attendance. Paltrow and Oscar de la Renta are among the chairs of the event.

@moncler unveiled its latest project, #MonclerGenius, yesterday at Milan Fashion Week.
