KATE’S A SCREAM: Kate Moss is set to sing a duet with Bobby Gillespie, lead singer of Primal Scream, for a track on Scream’s forthcoming album, "Evil Heat." The two will sing "Some Velvet Morning," originally sung by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. The album will be released in August, according to a spokeswoman for Primal Scream. As a long-term friend and fan of the band, Moss has already appeared in a Primal Scream video, but this time around the boys wanted to hear her roar.
LADIES WHO SHOP: Some people tan in 90-degree weather. Faye Dunaway, instead, chose Monday to do something more healthy for her skin. The actress was spotted shopping at Zitomer, the Upper East Side-based pharmacy and beauty emporium-department store — in particular, checking out the retailer’s week-old Kiehl’s counter. In Dunaway’s basket: Kiehl’s Washable Cleansing Milk, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer…and a pair of bifocals.
WANG TIME: Vera Wang’s recent trip to Paris during couture week made quite a few members of New York’s fashion pack giddy with wonder about a possible engagement between the designer and her love of couture. After being spotted at Gaultier, Versace, Christian Lacroix, Dior and Balmain shows and at numerous fashion parties, it made some ask: Was she proposing the idea of launching her own couture line? Was she marrying her design talent with an existing fashion couture house? Or further, was she on the verge of exchanging vows with, say, Balmain? Well, Wang might be having a love affair with Paris, but according to the designer, it’s nothing serious. Despite the rumors, she annulled any idea of having anything to do with couture, except maybe to buy some of it.
"It was a combination of a family vacation and a shopping trip," Wang said Monday from home in New York. "I’ve never owned anything couture and I’m thinking of [buying] one piece, but I can’t pay the whole price. Maybe they could cut me a deal, from designer to designer."
GAY PER VIEW: Are you an unrepentant publicity whore looking for a side gig, funding for your design house, or exposure for a beleaguered public access show? That might as well have been the question when the Barbara Barna casting agency sent out the notice for "The Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," a new pilot being shot for Bravo TV. In it, five gay men (25-40, any ethnicity) give advice to transform "a typical straight guy from a crude and uncultured schmuck into a hip and happening renaissance man." So who was willing to sell their soul for the two-grand-an-episode Bravo was offering? According to our own unrepentant publicity whore sources, The Village Voice’s Michael Musto, former Details and former Fashion Wire Daily editor Joe Dolce, "Full Frontal Fashion’s" Robert Verdi, designer John Bartlett, and the New Yorker’s Hilton Als, all showed up to the casting call. But having had 15 minutes of fame didn’t seem to do well for these out, loud and proud self-promoters. They all got cut. Still, that didn’t stop sources from getting characteristically bitchy when asked about their competitors."Robert Verdi says he got a callback but I don’t really believe him," snipes one contender who also didn’t make it. As for Musto, the source reports: "They sent him an e-mail saying ‘We want you to come for the callback, you were fabulous.’ Then they called him an hour later telling him, ‘We got overzealous, we don’t want you after all.’" Perhaps the show’s producers should skip the fashion makeovers and simply train the neanderthal straight guys how to behave like a bunch of vicious queens. Just a thought.
KNITTING A NEST: Sweater queen Sonia Rykiel is about to apply her needles to a new realm: the home. The house confirmed Monday that the French designer is plotting a range of wares for the kitchen, bedroom and bath, to be unveiled next February.

24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said.
