NEW CREATIVE: Damiano Biella, the 32-year-old creative director at Carolina Herrera Ltd., left the company last week to pursue other interests. Sources within the company say the split is amicable and a replacement should be named within the next two weeks. Under the direction of Herrera during the last five years, Biella designed the ready-to-wear and bridal collections, and the licensed fur and eyewear lines.

"Damiano is a very talented man who I will miss a great deal," said Herrera. "He was a joy to have in my office and his contributions to my company were great."

Reached Thursday, Biella said the decision was a difficult one to make.

"However, I think it is time for me to explore other possibilities in my career," said Biella. "Sometimes you start something and you finish."

NOW PAMMY: Who’s the latest celebrity to jump into the designer arena? None other than actress and pinup Pamela Anderson, who clearly is betting sex will sell. The former "Baywatch" and VIP star is at work on a women’s fashion collection of tops, denim jeans, lingerie and accessories such as sunglasses, which will launch later this year. "Pam’s fashion line is in the process. It’ll be a little bit of everything, from lingerie to sunglasses," said a spokeswoman with her representatives Rocket Productions. "Pam hasn’t decided on a label yet." Curvaceous Character, perhaps?

Anderson is going animated this fall will return to TV in cartoon form as "Stripperella,'' airing on cable network TNN. Stripperella follows the antics of a stripper who moonlights as a superhero. The cartoon comes from Spider-Man creator Stan Lee

SOCIAL CAPITALE: Following in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman is chairing what has quickly morphed into the junior social event of the season, next Thursday’s second-ever International Neuroscience Foundation benefit. The uptown set — including chairmen Samantha Boardman, Liz Cohen, Lauren Kaskel, Lulu de Kwiatkowski, Rachel Peters, Alexandra Shiva and Cohen’s sister Laurie Prince, who founded the organization four years ago — is headed all the way downtown to Capitale for it. The benefit committee boasts luminaries from Amanda Peet and Paltrow to Pia Getty, Rena Kirdar Sindi and Carolina Herrera. As for Portman, she will be accompanied by her parents — not as chaperones, but as Prince’s special guests, since Portman’s father is her doctor.

THUMPA-THUMPA: "I wish you could feel my heart," said singer Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child. She was referring to her two Grammy nominations. "I was so surprised when I found out." Rowland and three-time Grammy nominee Vanessa Carlton turned up at Macy’s Herald Square on Thursday to promote their newest ventures as shoe designers for Candie’s. "I love fashion and being creative," Carlton said of her Seventies-inspired design. "It’s like arts and crafts." But the awards are on Sunday and the girls had other things on their minds. "I think I’m wearing Christian Dior for the red carpet," Carlton said. "It’s my favorite, so far." Rowland said that while she has no idea what she will be wearing, she is sure that her stylist, Tina Knowles, will come up with something great. "I wouldn’t work with anyone else. She knows me, she knows what I like."
