NOUVEAU RICCI: Talk about a hot ticket. Word has it in Europe that Olivier Theyskens intends to show his first designs for Nina Ricci in New York, not Paris, come January. The designer, who officially started at the Paris house last week, is said to be zeroing in on a date to show the pre-fall collection at Ricci's Chelsea showrooms with the invitation list limited to some 50 guests.
GO PATRICK: So much for Target going international. After tapping New York designers Behnaz Sarafpour and Proenza Schouler to design limited-edition collections for its Go International initiative, the mass retailer is said to have signed Paco Rabanne's Patrick Robinson for its next limited-edition Go line. Robinson's capsule collection for the mass retailer is unlikely to hit stores before spring. The designer couldn't be reached on Wednesday, and a Target spokesman declined comment on "any future Go designers." But here's a word of advice: If the trend to select American designers continues, Target execs may want to think about renaming the program Go National.
RICKY'S NIGHT: In fashion circles, Ricky Lauren is perhaps best known for quietly sitting in the front row of her husband Ralph's runway shows, and elegantly leaping to her feet to give him a warm hug and kiss at the finale. But on Tuesday night, the spotlight was on her at a party for her new book, "Ricky Lauren, Cuisine, Lifestyle, and Legend of the Double RL Ranch." Guests crowded the main floor of the Ralph Lauren flagship in the Rhinelander mansion to get a glimpse of the author and have their books signed. "I am just visiting," said Ralph Lauren with a smile. Joining him in the crowd were Diane Keaton, Bruce Weber, Ron Perelman (clearly on a social whirl; see item below), Charlie Rose and Damon Dash and Rachel Roy. Inquiring minds wanted to know just how Ricky was planning to entertain for Thanksgiving this year. "We didn't make any plans for the holidays yet," she conceded, "but it's definitely going to be with the family. It is the best way to create new memories."ROARING STONE: It takes a uniquely brave sort to put Harvey Weinstein in his place, and Sharon Stone did just that Tuesday night. The actress called an auction at 55 Wall Street to benefit her pet charity amfAR, attended by the likes of Sting, Trudie Styler, Margherita Missoni, Kimora Lee Simmons and Roberto Cavalli. When a private screening for 70 of the upcoming flick "Bobby" came on the block, the producer stood on stage to help grease the wheels. It worked, and as soon as bidding reached $400,000, Weinstein ordered Stone to call it sold. "Stay out of it," she barked back and continued to pump Ron Perelman and two other bidders for a combined $500,000. "I've seen her sell a fur for $80,000 to a woman who doesn't wear fur," remarked Michael Kors of Stone's auctioning abilities. Sadly, the movie star wasn't able to work her same magic for the lot involving participation in an episode of "Project Runway" and a $50,000 Michael Kors shopping spree, which the designer generously offered at the last minute. It went for $35,000. "Someone's got to mug him on the way out and steal the gift certificate," Kors joked.
LIV IT UP:Liv Tyler may be wrapped up in motherhood, but she's still got time for fashion as the latest guest designer for U.S. cashmere brand Lutz & Patmos. Tyler has designed a limited-edition cape cardigan available in black, coral or cream and priced at $535. Past collaborators for the brand have included Sofia Coppola, Carine Roitfeld and Christy Turlington.
MOURET MOB SCENE: The reaction to Tuesday's launch of Roland Mouret's collection for Gap proved Brits haven't lost their appetite for designers at a discount. Customers lined up outside Gap stores in the U.K. long before opening time. When finally inside, some took all 10 dresses in the collection, priced between $85 and $148, into the fitting rooms at once. "All the dresses were really popular, with the red dresses selling out very quickly," said a spokeswoman for Gap. She added that while all the stores were busy, the brand's Oxford Street flagship proved particularly so. The collection, part of the Gap (Red) line, hadn't sold out completely as of Wednesday, but the spokeswoman advised customers to "get to stores as soon as possible." Or they could always wait until there's a repeat performance in New York, where Mouret's collection is set to launch at a selection of Gap stores between late November and early December.PARTY PEOPLE:Phoebe Cates-Kline, actress and owner of Blue Tree, a clothier on the Upper East Side, relishes in finding vendors in odd places, but she met Lisa Salzer, designer of jewelry line Lulu Frost, in a rather mundane way. "Lisa's sister is my kids' orthodontist," said Cates-Kline, who attended the designers' two-year anniversary party at Tenjune in Manhattan on Tuesday night along with husband Kevin Kline. "Her things sell really well in our store." Frost, known for incorporating antique fobs in its jewelry, came to fame last year when the company launched a jewelry collection using antique door numbers from the Plaza Hotel, now closed and undergoing transformation.
Harrods plans to remove the famous statue of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed from the bottom of the Egyptian escalators and hand it back to Mohamed Al-Fayed. “We are very proud to have played our role in celebrating the lives of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed at Harrods and to have welcomed people from around the world to visit the memorial for the past 20 years,” said Michael Ward, Harrods managing director. “With the announcement of the new official memorial statue to Diana, Princess of Wales at Kensington Palace, we feel that the time is right to return this memorial to Mr. Al Fayed and for the public to be invited to pay their respects at the palace.” More on the news, with reporting by @loreleimarfil, at WWD.com. #wwdnews

@kering_official is spinning off its stake in puma in an effort to focus on its luxury brands, the brand operator announced yesterday. “We are proud to have supported the turnaround of Puma, which now has unrivaled capabilities to take full advantage of the specific dynamics of its global markets and is poised to achieve substantial growth,” said François-Henri Pinault, Kering’s chief executive officer and chairman. The fashion world mourns for celebrated street style photographer, Nabile Quenum, who died at age 32 in Paris.
Quenum, creator of the fashion blog “J’ai Perdu Ma Veste,” was a fashion week fixture, and regularly shot for New York magazine’s The Cut, among other outlets, and brands such as Louis Vuitton, Moncler and Adidas.
