RETURNING THE COMPLIMENT: James Galanos said he admired the work of fellow Angeleno designer Rick Owens in an interview that appeared in WWD on Tuesday. Now, it's Owens' turn to praise Galanos, but it turns out the two have known each other for a lot longer than the elder designer had let on."He's so old-school gentility," Owens said. "Over 20 years ago, I went to apply for a job with him. I was so deluded--I was wearing full makeup, a nose ring and a nose chain. When I walked into his office and he's sitting behind this big malachite desk, I don't even remember what I said. All I remember is that during the whole interview, he was leaning back in his chair. Then he said, `We have a very rarified atmosphere, here.' For the rest of my life, that's represented to me what a designer's life is supposed to be like."KAL'S PARTY, PART III: The nice thing about Geminis is that their multiple personalities require multiple parties. So after having had a dinner on June 2 to recognize his CFDA lifetime achievement award--received June 3--Bloomingdale's fashion director Kal Ruttenstein continues the ball tonight with a big birthday party at the Hudson Penthouse. "It's my 39th," he quipped. (His actual birthday was Sunday).Among those who have confirmed attendance are Alexander and Lisa Vreeland, Denise Seegal, Edmundo Castillo, Ellin Saltzman, Ian Schrager, Marc Bouwer, Norma Kamali, Elie Tahari, Donna Karan and Zac Posen. Ruttenstein's accolades continue in July, when he will be made a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in Paris. It's also his 25th anniversary at Bloomingdale's. How many parties will he throw for those?COOL SHOW: Leave it to Prada to come up with an art house road show: Architect Rem Koolhaus is hard at work on the company's ad campaign, graphic presentation and promotional video especially arranged for the IPO. As reported, sources say Prada's road show will most likely kick off around July 1.MAGNIFICENT MACMILLAN: How is London It boy Dan Macmillan spending his millions? Today, the former beau of Kate Moss and Jade Jagger will open "Zoltar the Magnificent." The space--in London's Soho district--features a Tiki bar, exhibition area, and boutique selling urban street wear, books, records and action figures. The bathroom, though, is perhaps the most jarring room in the house: Its walls and ceiling are covered in plastic-coated cutouts from porno magazines. In the basement, there's an "anti-capitalist" gallery where displays include a gold-sprayed submachine gun, and prints splattered with the McDonald's logo--all Macmillan's own handiwork. There's also a "gimp room" with rubber blow-up dolls lounging on cushions. Macmillan, a trust-fund baby with aristocratic titles and ties to the Macmillan publishing house, is in on the project with Barnzley Zoltar, Anita Pallenberg, Marlon Richards and Jesse Wood.LOVE ME DO: Richard James apparently passed the audition. The Savile Row tailor was the choice of Sir Paul McCartney for his marriage Tuesday in Ireland to Heather Mills. Sir Paul wore a dark chocolate wool single-breasted custom three-piece suit with two side vents, and narrow flat-fronted trousers. The bride wore an ecru lace dress of her own design, presumably with no help from her new stepdaughter, Stella McCartney.
“These collections continue to build on that vision, empowering differently abled adults to express themselves through fashion,” said @tommyhilfiger of his line of adaptive apparel, which launches today. You may recognize her from “The Glass Castle” with Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson, but the Texas native’s next role goes in an entirely different direction. She describes her character, Max, as “a rough and tumble skater girl [who] becomes friends with the boys at school.” The second season debuts on October 27. (📷: @jgreenery) #wwdeye
