ROCK ’N’ ROLL RALPH: Bruce Springsteen hit Madison Square Garden Monday night and drew a real fashion crowd, including Ralph and Ricky Lauren, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw and Saks Fifth Avenue senior vice president of merchandising Jaqui Lividini. As for Lauren, it was his first-ever Springsteen concert but he’s been a long-time fan and observers noted the designer and Ricky boogying to the tunes. Springsteen also loves Ralph, having bought a slew of RRL T-shirts for his wardrobe.
ROYAL WEDDING: Lisa Marie Presley chose a strapless, silk taffeta wedding gown by Badgley Mischka to wear for her nuptials to actor Nicolas Cage last weekend in Hawaii. But Presley didn’t mind buying off-the-rack. According to sources, the daughter of the King picked up the dress at the designers’ boutique in Beverly Hills.
MISSING MARISA: Renaming a brand is no easy feat. But that’s what the folks at the Toronto-based ready-to-wear lineMarisa Minicucci are up to, since Minicucci left her namesake label in June. She has been replaced by Susan Lazar. Executives at Zenobia, Marisa Minicucci’s parent firm, said the decision is still up in the air, but Zenobia is a contender for the new title. Meanwhile, Zenobia president Barry Bly is banking on the designer and plans to grow the business between 15 and 20 percent in 2003. He said, though, that putting Lazar’s name on the label is unlikely.
@pantone announced their Color of the Year 2018: Ultra Violet. Nearly 20 months after the musician Prince’s death, fashion is having a purple moment. Varying shades of purple appeared on spring or fall runways, from @christopherkane to @calvinklein. @gucci’s Alessandro Michele bathed his fall runway in ultra violet-colored light at one point. @louboutinworld and @disney are making magic once again, creating a set of shoe designs for the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Louboutin designed a pair of shoes for each of the film’s four female leads: Rey (@daisyridrey), Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (@lauradern), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Rose Tico (@kellymarietran).
