SOMETHING IN THE HEIR: Are Ben Goldsmith, the youngest son of the late tycoon, Sir James Goldsmith, and the banking heiress, Kate Rothschild, about to tie the knot? The couple are said to be hosting a party next month at Annabel’s in London, and insiders are saying it’s to celebrate their engagement. Ben, 23, and Kate, 21, have been an item for two years and are living together. Of course, the happy couple should have no problems in throwing a lavish bash, since Ben recently inherited $30 million.
Although young, the couple would be following in the footsteps of their elder siblings. Ben’s sister, Jemima, married Imran Khan at age 21, while his brother, Zac, married Sheherazade Ventura at 23.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: Leave it to P.Diddy to cause a ruckus. Residents of Charles Street in the West Village are up in arms over MTV’s rental of a town house at 47 Charles Street for the filming of the reality show, "Making the Band 2," a P.Diddy creation. Sources say the house, which is actually two town homes cobbled together with an additional building in back — three doors down from that of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick — initially went on the market for $11 million before being reduced to $9 million. MTV is said to have rented it for four months for $2 million. Although filming officially began Tuesday, neighbors have already complained about the production company’s recklessness, sending irate letters to each other that call for action. Last weekend, while workers set up cameras and painted, a dog left unattended on the roof leapt to its death.

As one of the most recognizable models in the world, Christy Turlington Burns has an insider’s view of the fashion industry and the allegations of sexual harassment swirling around it. “I can say that harassment and mistreatment have always been widely known and tolerated in the industry. The industry is surrounded by predators who thrive on the constant rejection and loneliness so many of us have experiences at some point in our careers,” Turlington told WWD, along with her suggestions for how the modeling world should protect younger women and men. 24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said. Each piece is hand made in New York, either by Prounis or three other jewelers in the district. #wwdfashion
