SPECIAL TREATMENT: Catering to the luxury customer is becoming a competitive sport as stores seek more and more exclusives, host trunk shows and invite designers in for p.a.’s. Now Bergdorf Goodman is taking another tack to break away from the pack. The uptown retailer and Valentino collaborated on a group of exclusive pre-fall looks that will hit the floor today. The special grouping includes floral silk chiffon evening dresses, houndstooth jackets with mink collars, cowl-neck sleeveless dresses and pant suits with belts and buckle details. The trunk show will be held May 18 to 20, where Bergdorf’s entire fall Valentino buy and special runway pieces will be available for order.

Both are fans of the Finnish architect Eero Saarinen.
