THE OLD RAZZLE BRAZIL: John Galliano is in London this week shooting the fall Dior campaign with his usual photographer, Nick Knight, but without supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who is taking a six-month hiatus. This time, model Michelle Alves will be the star, a fellow Brazilian who is often mistaken for Bündchen. A Gisele-less fashion world is also forcing change at Dolce & Gabbana and Missoni, who have also used Bündchen as their advertising face for several seasons. But the two Italian houses declined to say who will star in their next campaigns.

POINTS EAST: Emanuel Ungaro is doing an encore showing of its fall 2003 collection today in Singapore to help kick off a two-week fashion festival there. Ungaro’s wife, Laura, and creative director Giambattista Valli traveled to Asia for the event. Ungaro replaced Azzedine Alaïa as the featured attraction when Alaïa opted not to participate in the event. Meanwhile, hometown hero Andrew Gn, a Singapore native who now lives and works in Paris, will reprise his Paris show April 4 to close the festivities.

But later, when Purcell introduced himself, Menkes took his picture.
