WHEN IT DRIZZLES: A rain-soaked men’s fashion week in Paris, which wraps up today, has not dampened the enthusiasm Cathy Horyn feels for the French capital. The New York Times fashion critic disclosed on the sidelines of the shows that she plans to relocate to Paris in spring 2006. She said she plans to continue covering fashion and writing more business-oriented stories, and looks forward to the “change in perspective.”
FERRY DOCKS IN PARIS:Bryan Ferry crossed the Channel for the weekend to take in some fashion and decompress during a break from recording his latest album. The dapper rock star, who attended the Louis Vuitton show on Saturday, said he came to the City of Light for some fashion R&R (apparently, one person’s flash bulbs are another person’s sedative), and “to get some perspective” because he’s working on a new album scheduled to come out in the fall. When asked to identify a favorite look, Ferry was at a loss for words, though he did say he liked the bags.
MISCHA, MISCHA, MISCHA: The closets of celebrities often include gowns or jeans and T-shirts and nothing in between. So now that actress Mischa Barton did her glamour duty wearing a sparkling Azzaro at the Golden Globes, she’s trading her heels for Ked sneakers. “The O.C.” actress will appear in the brand’s new $8 million ad campaign and contribute design ideas to the fall line, which includes polkadot and floral-print ballet flats. It doesn’t sound like Barton’s anxious to get back into more red-carpet-worthy attire any time soon. At Wednesday’s launch party for the campaign Barton said she had no plans to attend the Oscars, didn’t know if she’d make the after parties and wasn’t staying in town for fashion week. If she were, Anna Sui and Narciso Rodriguez would be at the top of her list to see.
CYNTHIA’S BABY:Cynthia Rowley gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday and mother and daughter are said to doing just, um, swell (after all, it’s the name of the designer’s collection for Target). Gigi Clementine Powers was born at 8:31 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces. Rowley is expected to return to work in time to put the finishing touches on her fall collection.

“It was a very surreal feeling. It wasn’t like we were in the studio together coming up with it — it’s more like he discovered it and loved it. “It’s a hard industry to keep motivated, as well, so finding different subjects and people is what makes it worth it – when you’re like, oh, I’ve met great people, I feel like I’ve done something good, and I feel proud of having done this,” said French actress Stacy Martin on being grateful for the variety of roles she’s take on.
