WILL SHE OR WON’T SHE?: First Sir Paul McCartney traveled to Ireland in June to marry Heather Mills and now the rumor mill is churning that his designer daughter Stella McCartney is about to wed her boyfriend, the former magazine publisher Alasdhair Willis, this weekend on the Emerald Isle (What is it about Ireland and celebrity weddings? Is it the Guinness?) McCartney, who announced her engagement in July, arrived in Ireland earlier this week with her father and Mills, as well as her brothers and sisters. Close pals Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are also rumored to be waiting nearby to attend the nuptials. And who designed the all-important wedding dress? McCartney herself, of course. “I couldn’t think of anybody else I’d like to do it!” she told British Glamour last year.
SECOND BILLING: Groupe Clarins might not want any more fashion out of Thierry Mugler, but at least one of his loyal clients does. The New York drag performer Joey Arias, who has modeled in some of Mugler’s Paris runway shows, is working with the designer on costumes for a new cabaret show he’s planning to open in Las Vegas on July 31 with Cirque du Soleil.
“Thierry’s participation is going to be amazing,” Arias enthused. “He’s creating the costumes, all the visuals and the architecture of the show. It’s really going to be spectacular — it’s going to be Cirque du Soleil’s first cabaret-slash-X-rated show.” Meanwhile, as Mugler awaits final word on whether Clarins will go through with a proposal to close the money-losing fashion line, he’s at least found some comfort in New York, where the designer was spotted on New Year’s Eve celebrating at the Bowery Bar’s weekly Beige party.
