DALLAS — FashionCenterDallas has set dates for apparel and accessories shows in 2008 after reinstituting a Thursday-to-Sunday schedule instead of the Sunday-to-Wednesday format that was tested this year.

The new dates are: Jan. 24 to 27, March 27 to 30, May 29 to June 1, Aug. 14 to 17 and Oct. 23 to 26.

The January and August shows overlap some days with markets at AmericasMart in Atlanta, a conflict that has generated criticism among some sales representatives and manufacturers who show in both places. AmericasMart is scheduled for Jan. 26 to 29 and Aug. 16 to 19.

"I don't care if they have markets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but when they conflict with other shows it makes it very difficult," said Charlie Brown, who has eponymous showrooms at both markets.

The Dallas Market Center returned to starting markets on Thursday after a September poll of buyers and exhibitors indicated a preference for that schedule. The Sunday-to-Wednesday setup was intended to allow retailers to be in their stores on busy Saturdays. But after the first show in January, several sales representatives opted to open on the Saturday before each market in response to buyer demand.
