MILAN — Ferragamo is stepping up its events for fall.
On Monday, the Florentine house staged a runway show in the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul with 600 guests, including Korean star Kim So Yeon, who entered the spotlight at the Venice Film Festival two years ago with the film "Seven Swords."
During the Rome Film Festival, which runs from Thursday to Oct. 27, Ferragamo will sponsor a retrospective called "The Actors Studio, gli anni 60 e 70." A screening of 15 movies produced over the two decades with actors from the storied school founded by Elia Kazan, Robert Lewis and Cheryl Crawford, will entertain movie fans.
Ferragamo will also contribute to a weeklong workshop for 20 students that will be held at Rome's Auditorium. The most promising participant will receive a $21,000 prize.
Oscar-winning actresses Jane Fonda, Shirley Knight and Cloris Leachman, all students of the studio, will attend the event and a cocktail party on Oct. 22.
"We are very keen to organize events around the world and of various natures in the areas that are most important to us," said Ferragamo chief executive officer Michele Norsa, who will fly to Brazil later this month to study the potential for the brand in markets such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
On Nov. 6, Ferragamo will host a runway show at Singapore's Red Dot Design Center of modern art for a younger and more artsy crowd, followed by a party for 300. Two days later, the company will open a 3,240-square-feet venue inside Elements, a high-end mall in Hong Kong.
Over the past month, Ferragamo opened four stores in China, bringing its total to 35 outposts in 22 cities.
