NEW YORK — Patricia Field wants to make politics trendy.

Not only can customers buy hip merchandise at Hotel Venus, Field’s West Broadway boutique, they also can register to vote and purchase a limited-edition “Let’s Vote” tank top. Proceeds from the sale of the $24 tops, which are also available on, will go to Rock the Vote, a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to vote.

This isn’t the first time the stylist and designer has shown interest in political activism. She created the “Dump Reagan” T-shirts in the early Eighties, which generated media attention and big sales.

“Twenty years have gone by since I did the Reagan shirts, and I have watched the young portion of our society pulling away from the political process,” Field said. “I hope these new shirts will elevate consciousness of young voters so that in the end, the results will show those of the full population — not just the older voters.”
