NEW YORK — Aiden Yoo, a student at Parsons The New School for Design, has been named the inaugural Clara Hancox men's wear scholar.

As reported, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in January established a scholarship for men's wear in the name of the former DNR columnist. Hancox died in January of 2006 at the age of 87. In her memory the CFDA will select one aspiring men's wear designer each year from among the applicants within the CFDA Scholarship Program to receive the Clara Hancox Scholarship Award.

Yoo, whose "portfolio impressed the scholarship committee so much that he was awarded one of the top three awards," will receive $10,000, the CFDA said last Thursday. Originally, the Hancox scholar was only expected to receive $3,000.

Other scholarship winners were from the Otis College of Art and Design, the Academy of Art University, the Rhode Island School of Design and Kent State.
