NEW YORK — Pro golfer Annika Sorenstam shouldn’t be afraid to show off her feminine side when she tees off today against an all-male field at the Bank of America Colonial in Fort Worth, Tex.

That was the off-the-cuff advice from Nicole Miller, who suggested floral shorts, a mismatched plaid shirt and a black baseball cap for the Swedish links star. Sorenstam will be the first woman in 58 years to play in a PGA tour event.

“She has a great tomboyish quality and she seems pretty cute,” said Miller, who designed golfwear a few years back. “I would make her look more girly.”

As for designing for everyday duffers, Miller said, “We still do a lot of golf-inspired print ties and boxer shorts. It would be a natural for us to do golfwear, but I would only do it with a license. It makes the showroom choppy. With all our cocktail dresses, it wouldn’t look right.”
