CHICAGO — Fruit of the Loom has licensed its name for its first line of bodywear. It will be produced by J.J.’s Mae Inc./Rainbeau, San Francisco.
Bodywear styles of cotton and Lycra spandex will include bike shorts, pants, leggings, crop tops and leotards. The licensed line will be distributed through mass-market chains, an FTL spokesman said. First deliveries are scheduled in late 1994.
FTL, best known for its underwear and basic casualwear for men and women, has had success with a licensed line of bras and panties manufactured by The Warnaco Group, the spokesman noted, and this prompted FTL to look for other licensing channels.
