PARIS — Despite recent speculation that he might not be able to finance a collection, John Galliano will mount a showing here of about 20 outfits on Saturday, March 5.
Galliano will show his fall-winter collection twice at 6 rue Ferou, the former residence of socialite Sao Schlumberger. The collection will be seen by about 70 people at each show.
For three months, Galliano searched for financial backers to bankroll his fashion house. According to a spokeswoman for Galliano, th0e British designer recently found backers to finance his “capsule” collection.
She declined, however, to reveal the names of the new backers.
In the last year, Galliano has been backed by Faycal Amor, the owner and designer of Plein Sud. However, Amor told WWD in December that he did not want to keep financing the line, and that he and Galliano were holding talks with potential new investors. Neither Galliano nor Amor could be reached for comment.
Galliano’s spring-summer 1994 collection, presented in October, was critically acclaimed and won accounts such as Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Maxfield in Los Angeles, Ultimo in Chicago and Alain Bilzerian in Boston.
