NEW YORK — Venus and Serena Williams are known for their sparkle and sparks on the tennis court, and now the sisters are going for gold with a new jewelry line, Winning Styles.

The pair designed the collection in collaboration with global direct seller Avon Products Inc., which has had the sisters under contract for its ad campaign since 2000.
“Our mom was a representative [for Avon] when we were babies, so we knew the products and how great they were from a very young age,” said Venus.
Within Winning Styles, Serena designed the Open Prize group, which features a set of drop earrings, a necklace and a tennis bracelet, while Venus’ Court Flash group comprises a silver-tone and rhinestone ring and a necklace and earring set. The sisters also collaborated on two pairs of hoop earrings.
“I’ve been wearing [the Open Prize necklace] constantly since the photo shoot for the collection, and I was even photographed wearing it when I accepted a special trophy given to me by the WTA Tour in recognition of the Serena Slam,” said Serena.
All items in the jewelry line sell for $14.99 and will be distributed through the nationwide network of 600,000 Avon representatives.
“Venus and Serena are great role models for women,” said Sally Haigh-Alex, Avon’s vice president of U.S. category marketing. “We thought we could design a line of jewelry for every woman who shares their championship spirit.”
But wait, there’s more. Venus is even thinking about making the leap from court queen to Avon lady. “Actually, I am already planning to become a representative this summer so that I can sell all these great products to my friends,” she said.
But the sisters — who aren’t exactly known to fraternize with colleagues — were mum about whether they’ll approach any players on tour. That, it seems, will remain a question for the locker room.
