Robert Dennis, president and chief operating officer of Genesco Inc., will become president of Finish Line Inc. upon the completion of its acquisition of Genesco. Consummation of the $1.5 billion purchase is expected during the fall.

According to a company spokesman, Glenn Lyon, current president of Finish Line, will remain with the company and manage the retail entities housed under the Finish Line banner — Finish Line (697 units), Man Alive (95) and Paiva (15).

Dennis became chief executive officer of Hat World in 2001 and was named senior vice president of Genesco after it bought Hat World in 2004. He became executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company in 2005 and was promoted to president of Genesco in October.

As Finish Line's president, Dennis will report to ceo Alan Cohen and take responsibility for the combined firm's retail divisions and licensed brands business, as well as operational support functions such as real estate and information systems. Under the current Finish Line structure, Lyon reports to Cohen.
