NEW YORK -- Giorgio Armani's had enough of cutting loose. He focused on shape -- the feminine kind -- in his cruise collection, and the result, shown here Monday, was plenty of strong-shouldered, body-hugging jackets that were cut close to the chest and flared over fluid, knee-grazing skirts.

Armani not only showed some superb suits, he also sent out a sea of soft and feminine dresses. There were beautiful draped-front or inverted-pleat numbers in silk or suede, double-tiered or A-line linens, and sheer, pale florals. In addition to his trademark neutrals, he cut sweet melon or mint jackets, pairing them with new slim pants or draped skirts. And he added a sexy twist to the classic Armani suit -- vests with either push-up appeal or scooped-out T-backs.
