Kevin Ryan’s muse at Milly was, as he put it, “a flapper the morning after” — a girl with riotous curls. Ryan curled the hair all over with different-size curling irons and then lightly back-combed sections (“so it wouldn’t be too perfect”), then twisted curls around his fingers and pinned them down to give the overall appearance of short, curly hair. “We wanted curl without the Shirley Temple effect,” Ryan cracked. He finished with plenty of Bumble and bumble hair spray.
Romy Soleimani, working for MAC Cosmetics, kept things simple and pretty on the face, using plenty of black mascara, a subtle touch of MAC’s Smoked Out liner and a deep berry lipstick. “This is about a cool girl dressing up,” said Soleimani. “She loves Champagne.”
