IT’S ALL ABOUT SAMPLE SIZE: During In Style’s fashion show and lunch on Wednesday, Globe nominees Marg Helgenberger and Rachel Griffiths sat with their stylist Deborah Waknin, who wagged her finger when desserts were placed in front of them — and they both pushed them away.
NIA’S NO-NO: Ah, success. One day you’re in a stiff off-the-rack wedding dress and the next major designers are throwing you too many options. "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" creator and actor Nia Vardalos scrapped both dresses Dolce & Gabbana custom made for her for Sunday’s show, instead going with a black, beaded Badgley Mischka.
RALPH AND ONLY RALPH: Although Waknin has styled nominee Jennifer Garner in the past, it was Ralph Lauren himself who concocted her Golden Globe look this year. It seems Garner and Lauren bonded over their Emmy experience and he could well be playing Givenchy to her Hepburn in the future.
BEAUTY MARK: L’Oréal showed it owns the Globes this weekend. Its Ladies Lounge was back in the Beverly Hilton during the award show, seeing to touch-ups on Cate Blanchett, Faye Dunaway, Cameron Diaz and just about every other star who hit the powder room. "Renée was in and out of here through the night," said a spokeswoman. But a L’Oréal team began servicing VIPs Thursday, doing house calls and attending visitors at the Vanity Fair suite at the Mondrian, where the beauty brand also showed a feather and satin bag it commissioned Adrienne Landau to design for each of the nominees. It also ran ads of its Color Experte line, a launch which somehow manages to give home users highlights, during the telecast.
THE HILLS WERE ALIVE: On Saturday, when Beverly Hills was virtually bristling with movie and TV stars, starting with Sam Rockwell working on his Globe look with Prada’s Karineh Martin at the Rodeo Drive store. Down the street, Andy Garcia was running through Stuart Weitzman and Saks Fifth Avenue with his daughter Dominique — who was Miss Golden Globe. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick and their new baby bonded with Kristin Davis as they checked into the Peninsula Hotel.
HERE’S LOOKIN’ AT YOU, KID: Ma Parker and Pa Broderick ended up with so much swag from the ultra-VIP HBO suite (from Reebok sneaks and Safilo eyewear to LVMH fragrances and Lancôme cosmetics) that they recruited two of the attendants there to help them up to their room. The payoff? The promise of seeing the baby. Of course, not every celeb got the routine. Apparently new to the suite system, "Sopranos" chieftain James Gandolfini arrived well after the team began packing away the stock. "So where’s my stuff?" he demanded. The goods were quickly assembled. All knew better than to turn away The Boss.
HOARDE OF THE RINGS: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have matching wedding bands, and now they also have matching Harry Winston rings. At Saturday night’s bash at Mike and Irena Medavoy's manse, Harry Winston folks passed out hundreds of little blue HW boxes filled with lollipop rings — and two with the real thing. The rockin’ newlyweds and the jeweler insist it’s sheer luck that the rockers got the rocks.
CAA AT PLAY: While Sunday’s party prize at the Beverly Hilton definitely went to Miramax, a close contender is the one hosted by CAA at Chaya Brasserie. Superagents Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane greeted their stable of super stars like Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, Aussies Heath Ledger and Geoffrey Rush, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Heather Graham and boyfriend Chris Weitz. Demi Moore was working the room like nobody’s business — so much for her semi-retirement. The evening’s big winner Nicole Kidman spent most of the party huddling with the author of "The Hours," Michael Cunningham, introducing him to Hollywood’s elite who all wanted to know what his next book will be. "I’m just in the middle of it," he confided. When well-wishers said they’d see Kidman at the Oscars, she blushed and said, "You don’t know that yet. I still can’t believe I won the Golden Globe." But the party’s most fun moment had observers placing bets on which very young lady Hugh Grant would go home with — he certainly had his pick.

“I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it. I like to do characters in projects that stand for something and Karolina definitely does, so that was really exciting to me,” @ginnygardner says of her new role in @hulu’s “The Runaways.” Gardner plays Karolina Dean, a queer superhero, which is a rarity for @marvel. “Azzedine has been one of the biggest influences in my life. He has always been such a strong, loving, fatherly figure to me. I call him Papa. His designs are indescribably unique, they are pieces of art. He knew how to make the female form look its loveliest. I have so many memories of him; my favorite might be during my first show with him in Paris. He liked me and he wanted to help me get more work. He called all his friends at Kenzo and Comme des Garcons, and asked them to book me. They said, ‘But she can’t walk!’ And he said, ‘but she has such a great ass!' His friendship and support has been the great privilege of my career. I can't imagine life without him. Repose en paix mon Papa.” - @stephanieseymour tells @wwd. #wwdfashion (📷: @steveeichner) #alaia #azzedinealaia
Azzedine Alaïa, flanked by two of his closest friends, models Stephanie Seymour and Naomi Campbell.
He designed Seymour’s dress for her 1995 wedding to Peter Brant, and treated Campbell (who famously called him Papa), like a daughter. For more on the legendary designer, tap the link in bio. #wwdfashion #alaia #azzedinealaia
