The tour began with an appearance at Harrods in London, where Guinness unveiled the fragrance. In the U.S., she was right at home Monday evening at Bergdorf Goodman. An entire section of the store’s beauty department was transformed to look like one of the designer’s boutiques. Lulu Guinness handbags, shoes and fragrances were available and customers received a deluxe mini with any purchase. Guinness not only signed fragrance bottles, but took a pen to her bags as well. Neither Guinness nor her fragrance licensee, Riviera Concepts Inc., would comment on estimated sales, but industry sources estimated the event helped garner total Guinness item sales of approximately $20,000.
The tour also included stops at Nordstrom in Paramus, N.J., and Neiman Marcus in Atlanta. Guinness will hit the West Coast with appearances at Nordstrom doors in Los Angeles, Glendale, Calif., and South Bay, Calif., and Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills.
The designer noted that the response has been “fantastic. Everybody seems to get it and it appeals to customers of all ages.” Guinness also said that she will launch a rose-based, limited-edition scent for fall, which will come in a rose basket.
