Hennes & Maurtiz, the Swedish fast-fashion retailer, on Wednesday said sales in October gained a better-than-expected 12 percent, spurred by store openings.

Like-for-like sales for the month grew 3 percent, after flat like-for-like growth last month.

The firm drew crowds to stores in Europe and America last week with a one-off collection by Viktor & Rolf, which included a silk-and-tulle bridal gown for 298 euros, or $349.

H&M operated 1,321 stores at the end of October, up from 1,182 and the end of last October.
