NEW YORK — Forget Malibu Barbie — think Malibu Jackie instead. Michael Kors has combined his love for Jackie O and what he calls his “West Coast obsession” this season, and the result is a sexy blend of the two. Little HotPants, halter minidresses and lace-up swimsuits are just a few of the must-haves in the collection. Meanwhile, for his Kors line, the designer says he’s “looking to the East instead of the East Coast.” That means American basics such as denim skirts and cotton T-shirts get decorative Asian-influenced details like crane prints, delicate branch motifs and floral designs. Elie Tahari, for his part, is going in a sporty direction with biker-inspired styles, updated cargo looks and lots of cool denim in jackets, cropped pants and even suits.
