NEW YORK — HBA Global Expo may have concluded its 10th annual packaging conference Wednesday, but the organization has opened the door to many new opportunities for next year.

For starters, the conference will be called Health & Beauty America. Despite the name change, show director Jack Gonzalez said the conference remains committed to building its list of international attendees.

Also, Health & Beauty America has entered into a venture with the Cosmetics Toiletry and Fragrance Association to create a new show-within-a-show. The new show sectoris called Personal Care Ingredients & Technology Expo.

On Monday night, several packaging and R&D executives were honored for their innovation. Neil Scancarella, executive vice president, research and development, for Revlon was presented the Lifetime Achievement in Product Development Award. Roger Caracappa, senior vice president, global packaging, The Estée Lauder Cos., was awarded Packaging Executive of the Year. At Procter & Gamble, Lee Ann Drechsler, section manager for R&D, Tom Rabe, principal scientist for global cosmetics and Ed Smith, research fellow, were honored for their innovation on Max Factor Lipfinity and Cover Girl Outlast lip products.

For packaging design, the grand prize went to Diesel Green by Marbet, a fragrance package modeled after home gardening water spritzers.
