LOS ANGELES – It took every ounce of effort for stars at the 58th Annual Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium to appear cool as the sun beat down and temperatures hovered at 90 degrees, so the diaphanous chiffon gowns worn by many were a wise choice.
“I feel like a princess,” sighed Kyra Sedgwick, wrapped in yards of dove gray chiffon and tulle by Armani Prive.
Several actresses chose similarly draped and goddess-like gowns, from Debra Messing’s cream Albera Ferretti to Sandra Oh’s periwinkle Vera Wang to Evangeline Lilly’s navy Versace. But those who opted for the night’s other big trend — waist-cinching columns — were less serene.
