LOS ANGELES — Tragedy struck the surf apparel industry last week when the body of Hurley International marketing intern Dane Chandler Williams was found dumped in an alley, following the Action Sports Retailer’s fall 2008 trade show. There were no obvious signs of trauma, and the cause of death was not determined as of presstime.

Williams, 23, was last seen during the early morning hours of Jan. 26 leaving the Hard Rock Hotel bar across from the San Diego Convention Center, where the surf/skate apparel and hard-goods trade show is held. Last Tuesday morning, his body was found wrapped in a blanket in the San Diego neighborhood of City Heights, about seven miles from the convention center.
