NEW MERCHANT: Aéropostale named Mindy C. Meads as president and chief merchandising officer, confirming a WWD report on Monday. She will report to Julian R. Geiger, chairman and chief executive officer. “She has a tremendous level of knowledge of the retail industry, with expertise spanning children’s, juniors, women’s and men’s apparel,” Geiger said. Meads has more than 30 years experience in retailing, most recently serving as president of Victoria’s Secret Direct. From 1998 to 2005 she held senior executive positions at Lands’ End and at Sears Holdings, which owns Lands’ End. Earlier in her career, she held senior jobs at Gymboree Corp., and before that was at Lands’ End, and Macy’s where she worked with Geiger.
