MOVING UP: Hearst Magazines has promoted John Hartig, the executive hired last winter to develop new magazines, to senior vice president of consumer marketing and development. Besides continuing to oversee prospective launches like the women’s style and shopping magazine currently in development, Hartig will be in charge of Hearst’s marketing and circulation operations. His promotion comes fewer than six months after having joined the company from Time Inc., where he had been chief executive of The Parenting Group division.

ESCADA’S NEW HIRE: Maureen Baltazar has been named general manager of the Escada flagship in New York. She succeeds Linda Ruocco, who left the company. Most recently, Baltazar was acting managing director of the Hermès flagship on Madison Avenue, and before that she was managing director of its Boston unit. She reports to Carl Barbato, vice president of retail at Escada (USA) Inc.
