SWISS MAG: Christina Ferrari, most recently interim editorial director of Wallpaper, and before that, managing editor of Teen People, is launching a new English-language magazine in Switzerland with her husband, Henry Muller, former editorial director of Time Inc. They have joined forces with two Swiss journalists, Pierre Grosjean and Gabriel Sigrist, and American entrepreneur Andy Sundberg, former founder of Internet access provider Iprolink. Scheduled to launch early next year by Violet Media S.A., the as-yet-unnamed magazine will be the only English-language magazine that covers all of Switzerland, including news, opinions and lifestyle information. It will have offices in Geneva and Zurich.

MORE SECURE PORTS: Two Italian ports, La Spezia and Genoa, have been added to the list of foreign ports participating in the U.S. Customs Service’s cargo pre-inspection program, the agency announced. The antiterrorism Container Security Initiative was launched in March to try to prevent weapons, bombs or the like being smuggled in cargo containers. The ports of Le Havre, France; Hamburg; Bremerhaven, Gemany; Antwerp, Rotterdam and Singapore have already signed up.

DONNA’S ANTI-DRUG: DKNY Jeans has joined forces with the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign to release a 2003 calender showcasing 14 male stars, including Enrique Iglesias, Jonathan Jackson and Jay Hernandez. The calendar plays off the campaign’s "What’s Your Anti-Drug?" theme, which encourages young people to embrace a passion or hobby instead of drugs. Photographed by Herb Ritts with creative direction by Donna Karan’s team, each celebrity is pictured with a quote telling what his anti-drug is. Iglesias’s anti-drug is windsurfing, and he is quoted as saying: "It kept me focused on the positive things in my life and it also helped me learn that you’ve got to be yourself to be cool." About 750,000 copies of the calendar will be inserted in the December-January issues of CosmoGirl magazine, with thousands more available on newsstands in New York, Florida and California. It will also be available as a free download on, a pop culture Web site for teens and tweens.
