Duncan, who previously was president of Fred Meyer Corp. in Portland, Ore., succeeds William Podany who, as reported, resigned in April. Jeffrey Girard, who had acted as interim ceo since Podany’s departure, remains with the firm as vice chairman of finance and administration and will report to Duncan. ShopKo operates 366 discount stores under the ShopKo and Pamida banners in 23 states.
