CALVIN IN VENICE: Calvin Klein opened its newest 1,200-square-foot CK Jeans store Friday in Venice at the corner of Via Calle del Teatro and Via Calle del Forno, one of the city’s largest shopping areas. The store is the eighth location designed in the company’s new concept using concrete tile floors offset by white walls. Clothes are displayed on fixtures, benches, shelves and doors made of stainless steel, walnut and frosted acrylic. The next two CK Jeans stores will open in Rome and Amsterdam.
E-SHOPPING FOR CHARITY: EBay and Macy’s West have teamed up to open a Macy’s Passport store online to raise funds for HIV and AIDS medical research. Beginning last Monday and running through Oct. 7, Macy’s will sell fashion items donated by celebrities and designers, luxury trips, sports and music memorabilia. Ashley Judd will donate a Badgley Mischka dress she’s sporting on the cover of October Glamour. Joan Collins will select a dress from her closet based on the winning bidder’s personal style. The items will be sold in traditional eBay fashion, with proceeds going directly to Macy’s Passport 2002. Macy’s Passport, Macy’s West’s annual fund-raiser, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with events set for San Francisco (Sept. 18-20) and Los Angeles (Sept. 27-28). The Passport events have raised more than $15 million for HIV and AIDS medical research to date.
