AMERICAN EAGLE CFO: American Eagle Outfitters Inc. has promoted Joan Hilson to executive vice president, chief financial officer of the American Eagle Brand. Hilson will be responsible for all areas of corporate finance and accounting as well as merchandise planning and allocation. She will continue to report to chief executive officer Jim O'Donnell. Hilson moves into the role previously filled by Laura Weil, who joined Ann Taylor Stores Corp. as chief operating officer in August. Hilson had been AEO's senior vice president of finance since September. Before that, she was cfo of Victoria's Secret Stores and earlier in her career worked at Sterling Jewelers Inc. and Coopers & Lybrand.
BERGDORF DEPARTURE: Ted Deitert, Bergdorf Goodman vice president and creative director, is leaving the company. Bergdorf's said a replacement would be named soon. Deitert joined Bergdorf's in 1999 and has worked on a number of projects, including the launch of the Bergdorf Goodman Magazine in September 2000, and the development of the Very Bergdorf ad campaign for holiday 2002. Deitert reported to Michael Crotty, senior vice president of marketing, who, as reported, is also leaving the company to become chief executive officer of Fotolog, a photo blogging service. Deitert was not available to comment on his plans, though sources indicated he would not be joining a competitor. Before joining Bergdorf's, he was creative director at AGA, a catalogue marketing group.
TRALDI'S TOUCH: Tocca has tapped Francesca Traldi as vice president of marketing and communications. The Italian, who most recently headed up communications at Alberta Ferretti, is based in New York and starts immediately. In the new position, Traldi will oversee all aspects of brand marketing and communication and, according to Tocca's chairman and creative director, Edoardo Mantelli, help build the brand's presence in Europe.

EXCLUSIVE: Two and half months after John Targon, cofounder and codesigner of Baja East, was hired as creative director of the contemporary division at Marc Jacobs, he has left the company, WWD has learned. Marc Jacobs International, which is owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, confirmed Targon’s departure in a statement: “John Targon is a talented designer and we appreciate the work he has done here.
