BAUER'S BOARD: A new board has been named for Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc., the company established as the parent company of retailer Eddie Bauer upon the company's emergence from Chapter 11 reorganization. The nine-member board includes John C. Brouillard, chief administrative and chief financial officer of H.E. Butt Grocery Co.; William Thomas End, former chairman and chief executive officer of Cornerstone Brands Inc.; Howard Gross, former ceo, Hub Distributing, Millers Outposts, Levi's Outlet Stores; Paul E. Kirincic, executive vice president, human resources and communication, McKesson Corp.; Fabian Mansson, president and ceo of Eddie Bauer and former ceo of H&M; Kenneth M. Reiss, managing partner of the New York Office, assurance and advisory practice, of Ernst & Young; Laurie M. Shahon, president and founder, Wilton Capital; Edward M. Straw, vice admiral, U.S. Navy (ret.) and former president of global operations, Estee Lauder Cos., and Stephen E. Watson, former president and ceo, Gander Mountain LLC. Spiegel, Eddie Bauer's former parent, was controlled by German-based Otto GmbH. Last year Otto sold its Spiegel and Newport News catalogues to Pangea Holdings Ltd. Spiegel filed for bankruptcy in 2003.
SILVER EXITS: Francois Baufume, who joined Christofle in April 2004, is already exiting the French tableware firm after what sources described as a disagreement with shareholders. Baufume, a former president of Christian Dior and Kenzo, said he will exit the French luxury silversmith at the end of the month. He will be succeeded by Nicolas Abboud, the company's general manager.
FOUR-STAR DINING: On June 6, several of America's top chefs will transform Rockefeller Center into a gourmet food festival where 1,200 New York business leaders, socialites, food enthusiasts, chefs and restaurateurs will dine and dance to benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels. The evening will feature 35 tasting stations offering gourmet selections from New York chefs such as Daniel Boulud (Daniel), Edward Brown (the Sea Grill), Frank Crispo (Crispo), Marc Forgione (BLT), Nobu Mastuhisa (Nobu) and Charlie Palmer (Aureole). Renowned national chefs such as Wolfgang Puck (Spago, Beverly Hills), Joachim Splichal (Patina, Los Angeles) and Charlie Trotter (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago) will also present signature dishes. The event takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Citymeals hopes to raise over $1 million to help feed the homebound elderly in New York City.
Breaking News: @louisvuitton's men's artistic director @mrkimjones is leaving the French fashion house after nearly 7 years. Jones joined Louis Vuitton in 2011, following a three year tenure as creative director of British luxury goods brand Alfred Dunhill. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of @ralphlauren’s snowboarding collection, the brand is mining its archives. The iconic brand is reintroducing vintage styles and dropping new designs for a color capsule that will be available in Ralph Lauren stores and @openingceremony on January 25. “We tried to produce clothing of that couture quality, but the most daunting part was that we only had a matter of days [to do it],” said costume designer Lou Eyrich, who recreated Gianni Versace’s iconic looks for @americancrimestoryfx. Harrods plans to remove the famous statue of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed from the bottom of the Egyptian escalators and hand it back to Mohamed Al-Fayed. “We are very proud to have played our role in celebrating the lives of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed at Harrods and to have welcomed people from around the world to visit the memorial for the past 20 years,” said Michael Ward, Harrods managing director. “With the announcement of the new official memorial statue to Diana, Princess of Wales at Kensington Palace, we feel that the time is right to return this memorial to Mr. Al Fayed and for the public to be invited to pay their respects at the palace.” More on the news, with reporting by @loreleimarfil, at WWD.com. #wwdnews
