In Brief: Ben Sherman Promotes … Power Shopping

A brief look at some of the day's stories.

BEN SHERMAN PROMOTES: Jennifer Getlan has been promoted to executive vice president of sales at the Ben Sherman Group. In this role, Getlan is responsible for the Evisu Genes and Ben Sherman women’s brands. Getlan, who has been with the company for more than four years, was previously national sales manager, overseeing Evisu Genes North American distribution, which includes sales, marketing and production. Getlan will assume the additional responsibility of Ben Sherman women’s sales and marketing, replacing Maria Kosky, who left the company in December. Prior to joining Ben Sherman, Getlan held various sales posts at companies such as BCBG Max Azria, Iceberg and Block 60. Getlan reports to Paul McAdam, president of Ben Sherman. She is based at Evisu’s New York showroom.

POWER SHOPPING: Hennes & Mauritz is preparing to challenge Spanish rivals Zara and Mango on Paris’ Avenue des Champs-Elysées. The Swedish fast-fashion giant on Monday confirmed it signed a lease for a store on the thoroughfare, which includes tenants from Louis Vuitton to Sephora. An H&M spokesman said the unit should open in 2008 in a space formerly occupied by Club Med.
